March, 2005 Exhibit: Steven Iwanczuk & David Gerbstadt
Artist's Statement My artistic practice of creating pieces of art has been with me since I was a small boy. I honor and cherish the art I create that has healed me. This is the foundation from which I build from to create, explore, and learn. It is in the doing of the art that sets me free. Works of art are done in a wide range of mediums. I tend to try new things and combine mediums together. I have shown my art consistently since 1993. Showing works of art in Philadelphia, New York, and Poland. I am known for a project I stated in October 1994 and continued until October 2002. This project involved my leaving my paintings and drawings out for the public to take. Over 2,500 works of art were left world-wide free for the taking. The documentary film ‘david was here’ was directed by Jeff Powers and filmed by Bob Oltra and Dan Pereira covered my project of leaving out my art. The film went onto the Iowa International film festival and won best audience film award. I no longer leave my art out for the taking. I continue to show on a regular basis in Philadelphia and surrounding suburbs. Recently, I applied and was accepted as a member of the Highwire Gallery in Philadelphia. Works of art are in private collections all over the United States, Germany, France, Poland, Italy, and Mexico. Locations where I have shown my work:
